Xbox Games Showcase 2025 took place earlier today, doubling-down on Xbox's commitment to showcasing Japanese studios on the global stage.
During the 2-hour showcase event, we got our first gameplay preview of Team Ninja's upcoming NINJA GAIDEN 4, which was originally announced in January at the Xbox Developer Direct 2025. The action-packed trailer also revealed the game's October 21, 2025 release date, as well as specified that it will be releasing on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5.
Following this, we saw the long-rumored announcement of Persona 4 Revival, a remake of the 2008 PlayStation 2 ATLUS title. The remake brings players back to the rural town of Inaba, where a string of bizarre murders are taking place. While no release date was shown for the title, we did see an announcement from ATLUS following the showcase that the game would also be releasing on both PlayStation 5 and Steam.
Additionally, comments from P-STUDIO director Kazuhisa Wada confirmed that the studio is "actively preparing for the future development of the Persona series as a studio." – suggesting that the Persona series might not just be a combination of spin-offs and remakes in the future.

Lastly, and perhaps the most discussed of the bunch, we saw Game Freak reminding viewers that they continue to have chops outside of the world of Pokémon with the announcement of an all-new action-RPG titled "Beast of Reincarnation."
Developed by Game Freak, and published by Fictions, "Beast of Reincarnation" is a Princess Mononoke-esque story set in a post-apocalyptic Japan in a distant future. The game is slated for a 2026 release date, and will also be coming to Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5.
While not a new announcement, we also saw the fruits of Xbox's partnership with Square Enix continue today, with the announcement of the immediate release of "FINAL FANTASY XVI" on Xbox platforms, as well as "FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE" receiving an announcement for Winter 2025 release.
While Xbox never truly got its footing in Japan as a must-have console, their continued approach to showcasing Japanese games on a global scale keeps them in line with PlayStation as a must-watch event for keeping your eyes peeled for new releases.
