While trading cards aren't uncommon at the numerous conbini scattered across Japan, visitors might be used to seeing domestic heavy-hitters like Pokémon TCG, Yu-Gi-Oh, and more recently, the One Piece TCG taking up shelf space. What you won't typically see, however, is Magic: The Gathering. But with the recent launch of the Final Fantasy collaborative set, it seems like Wizards of the Coast plans to change that.

Beginning June 17 and running until sold out, Magic: The Gathering's latest, much-hyped set in collaboration with Final Fantasy, will be taking over Lawson with collaborative clear files with the purchase of select candies, and exclusive acrylic stands with the purchase of three or more packs.
Whether this collaboration will bear long-lasting effects, making future Magic: The Gathering sets available at Lawson, remains to be seen. However, for one of the world's oldest TCGs, and one with a cult-like following even in Japan, it's a good start for more mainstream appeal as more and more card games seemingly pop up yearly.
For more details on what qualifies for the clear files, as well as which stores are participating in the acrylic stand campaign, be sure to check out Lawson's official website.
