Tower Records Shibuya announced today via X that the location will be undergoing a major renovation starting on 4 November, 2025. The renovation is scheduled to run through February 2026 and will see each of the floors in the iconic store updated to become what they’re calling a “new experiential music store”.

Each of the floors will include new features and follow a theme intended to bring fans closer to their favorite music. Additions and changes for each of the floors include:

  • 1st Floor - A new immersive space exclusive to the Shibuya location including a number of photo-friendly installations, handpicked new releases, a revamped information desk, and a "support" area inspired by idol fans where visitors can take selfies and buy merchandise.
  • 3rd Floor - A deeper J-pop experience being expanded to feature 1.5x the current selection of music from Japanese artists. The selection will feature independent and major acts, and is envisioned as space to express the diverse appeal of J-Pop as well as dissemination Japanese pop-culture.
  • 4th Floor - Focused on anime, games, and idols, the selection of merchandise and music is being expanded nearly 1.5x with a large selection of new items being made available. Additionally a large mirror-dressed photo area is being built to allow fans to take photos with their favorite properties as though they’re sharing a stage together. Lighting in this area is being developed to be customizable in order to suit each special event or property being showcased.
  • 5th Floor - An expanded K-Pop area dressed with a more Korean aesthetic. Neon lighting will be included to recall the K-Pop atmosphere, and create a location where you can feel an authentic experience within Japan.
  • 6th Floor - TOWER RECORDS BEER stand and listening area. Featuring 12 different brews of beer on tap, this floor will also feature a DJ booth and host periodic special music events. Envisioned as a space where fans can grab a drink and relax with music.

This major renovation is the first at the location since 2023 saw the expansion of their vinyl floor. TOWER will remain open during the remodeling period as well, although some floors will have areas closed during the construction period.
