Thirty years since the 1996 release of BANDAI's global phenomenon virtual pet, Tamagotchi, the childhood-defining icon is being celebrated with a nationwide exhibition. Kicking off in Tokyo at the Roppongi Museum from January 7 to February 2, 2026, the exhibition will rotate to Aichi, Ibaraki, and Osaka throughout the year.
The exhibition aims to showcase the 30-year history of the Tamagotchi brand, while inviting visitors to revisit their favorite virtual pet – presented as though those in attendance had physically stepped into the world of the device. For those in attendance, several exclusive goods are also slated to be made available at the exhibition, including a Mitsuhiro Higuchi-designed original Tamagotchi model.
