There are few individuals in the world of manga more influential than the legendary Rumiko Takahashi. Being the genius mind behind innumerable counts of cultural phenomenons, including Urusei Yatsura, Ranma 1/2, InuYasha, and so many other titles, there is nobody more fitting of the “Queen of Manga” title she has so rightfully earned. It's because of all this that when news broke via the latest issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday that Rumiko Takahashi would be working on an all-new manga series that's set to begin serialization in Spring 2019 we got a little more than excited.

While details remain scarce about the contents of the series outside of its Spring 2019 serialization date, what we do know is that she's currently hard at work on the series, hopefully meaning they'll have a fair amount already prepared before serialization begins. This announcement comes just under a year after Rumiko Takahashi concluded her last manga project, Rin-ne, which was serialized for over eight years, as well as being adapted to an anime in 2015.

With an air of mystery surrounding just what type of story Takahashi will challenge next, we can't wait to see as further announcements are made in the coming months. Recent times in particular have seen a resurgence in interest towards Rumiko Takahashi's works, surprisingly stemming from a massively diverse pool of both domestic and international fans of anime, manga, music, and fashion. Hopefully this translates to a promising readership for whatever her new series may be, especially from international fans who may not have been familiar with her works until recent times.
