Hot on the heels of the ending of her hit series SANDA (soon-to be an anime from Science Saru) last July, Paru Itagaki is back at it again with a new series titled Taika no Risei (Taika's Reason) in the pages of Weekly Shonen Champion 2025 vol. 7. This new series is a psychological suspense story centering on the symbiosis of humans and animals in a future where Japan has begun promoting the "humanization" of pets a means of combating the declining population.

Itagaki is no doubt a master of using the traits of animals and anthropomorphic characters to tell emotional and suspenseful stories, so we already have high hopes for the new series. This time being set in world where humans and animals interact, and a different basis for the existence of the anthropomorphic characters, we're expecting a totally different direction from works like BEASTARS and BEAST COMPLEX and we're absolutely here for it.

Weekly Shonen Champion 2025 vol.7 is on sale at book and convenience stores across Japan today.
