BURATAMORI, a long-running program that follows iconic Japanese TV host Tamori as he explores different cities and cultural areas of Japan to learn about their history and visit famous landmark is coming back to regular distribution in April of 2025.

The announcement is a bit strange, as after running continuously from 2015 until March 2024 it was announced that the series wouldn't be returning in its normal format, and instead a special was produced and aired in November. Not too much information has been shared yet regarding the circumstances behind the return, but it has been said that different themes from that of the past would be explored in the new series. Another regular feature of the original show is the inclusion of expert guests who explain and teach about the locations explored, this is assumed to be continuing as the announcement mentioned the general concept would not be changed.

BURATAMORI started in 2008 and ran for 3 seasons irregularly until 2012, returning once again in 2015 and running concurrently since then. In total more than 300 episodes of the show have been produced so far, and it has been a popular staple of Japanese variety program during its run. Tamori himself is a legend on Japanese TV having been a mainstay on multiple networks since the early 1980s and hosting several very popular original programs in the process. At 79 years old he's still super active in the industry and honestly we love to see it.
