HOBONICHI MOTHER PROJECT announces The Music Of MOTHER CD & vinyl release

The HOBONICHI MOTHER PROJECT was started in 2020 as a means to create lifestyle products and merchandise for HOBONICHI founder Shigesato Itoi's cult-classic MOTHER franchise. In the five years since it's started they've also held a number of special events including pop-up shops and galleries. One special event occurred exclusively online last year, a one night only concert of music from the MOTHER series performed by Hirokazu Tanaka (in the form of a DJ set) and Keiichi Suzuki and the Tonzura MOTHER Band.

Today HOBONICHI announced that the latter performance from that night will be coming to CD and vinyl this summer with pre-orders opening today. The album will include live performances of the music from the original MOTHER game, which was originally composed by Suzuki back in the late '80s.

The performance itself was a delightfully stripped down affair, like something you would hear in a small intimate venue making this a worthy addition to the MOTHER franchise's long musical history. It's made that much more special thanks to the inclusion of the night's special guest Miu Sakamoto, who gave a wonderful performance on several songs during the latter half of the set.

If you're a fan of the MOTHER franchise and can't get enough of it's soundtracks, you can pre-order both formats now at the HOBONICHI online shop.

The Music of MOTHER CD (¥3,500)

The Music of MOTHER Vinyl (¥6,050)

You can find more information and related merchandise on the special site for The Music of MOTHER live event.
