Akihabara GiGO no. 1 to sell commemorative SEGA branded t-shirt ahead of closure
scrmbl NewsroomAug 22nd, 2025

The iconic GiGO No. 1 location in Akihabara is schedule to close for good on 31 August, 2025 as a result of their contract with the building's management company ending. This location is one of a few long-time and beloved arcades that existed in Akihabara for years, originally owned and operated by SEGA until several years ago when GiGO acquired their game center business. To commemorate and acknowledge their importance in the space, GiGO will be selling a special commemorative shirt which features the building with the original SEGA logo.

The shirt goes on sale tomorrow 23 August, 2025 until the store's closure and can be purchased on the 6th floor of the location. Employees will be wearing an GiGO branded version of the shirt during this time period, which honestly would also be great if they ended up making available to the public as a means of celebrating the time that they maintained the business instead of letting it just shutter years ago.
